When disaster strikes, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) is often called upon to provide food, hydration and comfort to first responders and disaster victims. Our EDS team is made up of volunteers with a diverse range of experience and training. There are many ways you can become involved in serving your community through Emergency Disaster Services. Current opportunities are as follows:
Canteen Manager - Coordinate food service, including volunteers, setup, supplies tracking and communication with other on-site responders
Canteen Driver - Ensure canteen is in good operating condition, drive canteen to selected location and maintain canteen as needed during response
Canteen Worker/Cook - Prepare and serve food and beverages
Canteen Runner - Maintain area around canteen, run for supplies as needed
Canteen Set-up and Breakdown - Help set up and clean the canteen before and after events and disasters
Outreach Meet-n-Greets with EMS, FIre and Police Departments - Help to promote EDS services to local first responders
Photo and Video for Social Media - Use your skills to help us to connect with friends and volunteers
Our commitment to our volunteers includes training, proper equipment, uniforms and CE (Continuing Education) meetings. Make lifelong friends while positively impacting the Dane County Community! There are also opportunities for national disaster training and travel. Join us for monthly meetings and upcoming trainings in Emergency Food Service, Child Protection, and Weather Spotting.
